literally means Jehovah-saves.

.....The Old Testament name is the familiar Joshua.

The New Testament was written after Jesus was resurrected.

The writers, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, referred to Him as
.......Jesus Christ,
.......Christ Jesus,
.......Christ or
.......Lord Jesus Christ.
In todays culture many think of Jesus as His given
name, and Christ as His last name. This is not true.

..................Biblically, He was Jesus of Nazareth, son of Joseph the carpenter. This is how His family and friends knew Him.

.......His title was Christ, but few recognized this until after His resurrection.

Thank God that the Holy Spirit is able to reveal to us "Who is Christ."

There is yet another group of people who see Jesus of Nazaretth as a prophet sent from God; He truly is a prophet sent from God.

....They love His teachings;
.....they love His life of love;
.....they love His prophecy;
just in the same way they love
.....Mary Baker Eddy,
.....Joseph Smith,
.....Confucius,
.....Mohammed and

other false prophets who claim to be sent of God.

............If they only see Jesus as one of a number of prophets, they too will spend eternity in Hell.
There are still other people who see Jesus as more than just a man, more than a wise teacher; they see Him as a great example.

.....They read the gospels knowing that His life and ministry proved Him to be more tha an ordinary man.

..........They study His teachings, not knowing that they can practice the principles and fall short of the manifestations of God.

...............They see the example of His love and desire to be like Him; yet they all fall short of living in the law of love by imitating His life out of their own strength.

....................If they only see Jesus as an example, they will live this life with a measure of self satisfaction, but will spend eternity in Hell.
Another group of people go beyond believing that Jesus was just an historical man.

........................They see Him as a great teacher, one who had great wisdom for living.

It is true; He was the greatest teacher who ever lived.

...............But these people see Him as no greater than Plato, Socrates, and others.

Only believing this, they too will die and spend eternity in Hell.
