After Jesus was finished with the crowd, He must
have gone to His mother and brothers to talk with
them.

He never left without taking care of matters except
if it meant to do something out of God's will. And
He would never leave without seeing His mother.

His human nature was one that He wouldn't turn
down anyone if He could help it.

Jesus knew why His family had come for Him.
At the wedding in Cana He had to stop her with
"Woman what have I to do with thee?" when
she tried to help Him.

Now they were trying to interfer so He had to
stop them by stretching out His hands towards
His disciples and said, "Behold my mother and
my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will
of God, the same is my brother, and my sister,
and mother" Mark 3:34,35

We know His mother didn't go along with their
opinion. She knew of His disputes with all the
religious leaders and was concerned about the
problems. She may have hoped that He would
leave for awhile so tensions would cool down.

She, remembering the circumstances of His
birth, believed in Him; but like any mother she
wanted to protect Him as long as she could.

This seemed strange. Jesus was Lord of Heaven
but His brothers figured they had to try to do
something to get Him under control.

Maybe like Joseph's brothers, thinking he was
just a dreamer, Jesus' brothers lost sight of His
purpose. Because Jesus' ministry was having such
a wide effect that they might have feared what
could happen, even to themselves.

Because of the size of the crowd of people around
Jesus, His family passed word along the people to
tell Jesus that they wanted to see Him. They
made sure He knew that His mother was there
hoping that that would make sure He answered
them.

"There came then his brethren and his mother,
and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
And the multitude sat about him, and they said
unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren
without seek for thee.
And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother,
or my brethren?
And he looked round about on them which sat
about him, and said, Behold my mother and my
brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same
is my brother, and my sister, and mother."
Mark 3:31-35

Surely the family was troubled over the way the
religious leaders had refused Jesus. They may
have even felt He had failed His mission. The
fact that the Pharisees said He had to be demon
possessed must have really upset them.

Even though His family didn't agree with those
blaspheming Him and their accusations; they did
think He may be going too far and wanted to get
Him away somewhere to rest.

Shortly after that another interruption happened.
Word came to Jesus that His mother and His
brothers were wanting to see Him. The family
apparently had a meeting and wasn't happy with
what had been happening.

They believed that Jesus was a prophet, but they
were disturb about His claims of being the Messiah.
Others said, "He is beside himself."

The worship of Mary has become idolatry.

She takes the attention away from Jesus by
becoming the go-between of the people and
Jesus. She is held as more important than Him.

But Jesus answered her stressing that the true
blessing was in hearing God's Word and keeping
it.

"And it came to pass, as he spake these things,
a certain woman of the company lifted up her
voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb
that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast
sucked.
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that
hear the word of God, and keep it."
Luke 11:27-28

While Jesus was speaking, a woman interrupted
admiring His mother. For centuries since then,
some have had the idea that Mary has an unusual
place over other women, even Jesus.
