New Year's Eve 2012
Speaking of the emotions [the feelings], the positive definitions are the fruit of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22,23.

The negative definitions are found in Galatians 5 also.
The three functions of the soul realm are:
        emotions, intellect and will.

The Bible doesn't use the word emotion,
but it speaks of joy, peace, love, hatred, anger,
etc; which are emotions.

The Bible doesn't use the word intellect,
but uses the words, mind, think and thought;
which are used in the intellect.

The Bible doesn't use the word will,
which is the decision maker.
The relationship between bone, flesh and blood.

        Bone produces blood.
        Bone shapes flesh.
        Flesh moves bone.
        Flesh contains blood.
        Blood feeds bone and flesh.
Blood keeps flesh supple and mobile.
The body is composed of bone, blood and flesh.

All three elements perform a vital function.

Bones give the body strength, form and structure.
Flesh gives the bones mobility.
Blood would have no container without the flesh.
It's not difficult to separate the body and the soul, because the body can be measured, weighed, photographed and defined in many ways.

But the soul cannot be measured, weighed, photographed, etc.

The soul is defined by what and how one thinks, feels and decides.

Christmas Eve 2012
The Greek text specifically says "the spirit and the soul and the body" distinguishing between the three.

The Hebrew text doesn't distinguish between spirit and soul as clearly as the Greek; that is why many scholars interpret the spirit and the soul as one.

But it's inconsistent with Hebrews 4:12, which clearly states that the "quick and powerful" Word of God can divide the soul and spirit.

Since they can be divided [even though only by the Word of  God], spirit and soul must have distinguishable characteristics.
Hebrews 4:12,
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
1 Thessalonians 5:23,
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Genesis 2:7,
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
The two titles, Son of God and Son of Man, are titles from Christ Jesus' dual origin and His dual nature.

Adam was created a three-part being; spirit, soul and body.

Jesus, a Son of Man, also was a three-part being.
John used the title, Son of God, about twice as often compared to Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

Because Jesus taught that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, it indicates that John had a greater understanding or revelation of Jesus Christ as the Son of God  than       Matthew, the tax collector,
Mark, John Mark, Peter's first convert, or
                  Luke, the physician.
Both titles are used in all four Gospels:

                                 Matthew    Mark     Luke     John     Total
Son of God:
Number of uses         8                  3            6           10             27
Percent of uses         22%             18%       20%      50%

Son of Man:

Percent of uses         78%             82%      80%      50%
The Bible speaks of Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ as both the Son of God and the Son of Man.

The title, Son of God, speak of His deity.
The title, Son of Man, speaks of His humanity.
Micah 5:2 predicted Jesus' birth 500 years before He was born.

The evidence of Jesus as the Son of God is insurmountable.

Books couldn't contain all the fulfilled prophecies, and miracles He did as the Son of God during His earthly ministry, and since His ascension through the power of
His name and His authority and the Holy Spirit.
Not only did Jesus come out of the grave by the power of God, but He was raised up with a new and glorified body.

This new, glorified body was evidenced by His appearing to the disciple when they had the doors and windows closed.
They felt His nail scars and the wound in His side.
                Mary recognized his voice.
At Emmaus He disappear instantly from their sight.
He physically ascended to the Father in front of the disciples.

The people He and the disciples raised from the dead were raised with their mortal bodies and died again later.
Jesus was raised from the dead with power!

When the people asked for a sign, Jesus spoke of the sign of Jonas; "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
Matthew 12:40

Matthew 16:4
"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed."
The Bible Predicted:

And laid it in his own new tomb,"
