Jesus thought it best not to tell them his plans, just
in case they and the others try to make Him king
like they wanted to after His feeding the multitude
earlier.

Jesus knew the people would be asking His brothers
if He would be coming to the feast and He felt is was
necessary that they answer them with the truth.
They didn't know if He was coming or not.
