Everything Jesus did was for a reason. So to do
this healing differently (rather than touching or
speaking) may have been because the man was
born blind and he had to perform a creative
miracle.

God had created man from the dust of the earth.
Jesus picked up the dust and mixed it with His
own spit to make a clay, to create new eyeballs.
Then when he washed his eyes in the pool they
receive sight.
