There was another group called the Sadducees.
Their influence wasn't as great as the Pharisees.

They didn't believe in the continued life of the
soul after death. And they didn't believe in the
rewards or penalties in the afterlife.

Acts records, "The Sadducees say that there
is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit:
but the Pharisees confess both" Acts 23:8
