The Sadducees didn't want to entrap Jesus for
the same reason the Pharisees did.

They wanted to confound Jesus and the Pharisees
by showing how absurd the doctrine of the re-
surrection was.

They came to Him with an air of superiority and
gave an imaginary case that could never happen
in real life.
