There was a service in the synagogue that same
day (John 6:59). Jairus, whose daughter He had
raised from the dead, had charge of the synagogue
and would have given Jesus freedom to preach.
Jesus had led the people there where He could
preach and teach them. There was a custom
where they could ask questions in the services.
He had to remove their expectation that He had
come to be an earthly king and to set up a
temperary kingdom; a false idea they had of His
mission.
